ABOUT

Riccardo Ciullo is director of the IP/IT department at Intlaw. He has almost 15 years of specialized experience in European Trademark & Design Law with direct experience working for two of the most respected intellectual property law firms in the world.

After completing his Italian law degree with a focus on European Trademark & Design in Alicante, the heart of the IP world in Europe, Mr. Ciullo interned in New York, developing a strong interest in United States IP legal structure. He developed the framework for the legal department for an investigation services firm based in Manhattan that serves the financial, corporate and legal communities worldwide.

In the fall of 2005 he returned to Italy to practice Italian law before being selected by the Italian ministry of foreign affairs to work as an IP consultant in Geneva at the Italian Mission to the United Nations and WTO. During this three-month project, he attended WIPO and WTO international negotiations representing Italy while reporting to the Italian delegate for IP matters. As a result of this specialist knowledge gained whilst developing the regulatory framework for international IP law Mr. Ciullo is a great asset to his clients.

He followed up his experience in Geneva by pursuing continuing professional education at the internationally esteemed University of Alicante, obtaining an LLM in Intellectual Property and Information Society Law. Upon completion of his LLM, Mr. Ciullo joined Hogan Lovells Alicante in 2007 as an EU Trademark practitioner. In 2008, Baker & McKenzie recruited him to join their office in Barcelona to co-chair the IP Prosecution department.

Mr. Ciullo is an attorney admitted to practice in Spain. He is member of the Non-Traditional Trademark committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA), member of the Executive Licensing Society (LES), Barcelona Bar Association, Professor of the Master in Executive Compliance organized by the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economia (ISDE) and President of the Fordham School of Law ex-alumni Spanish Chapter.

Mr. Ciullo’s leadership stems from a deep understanding of the proper ways in which to run a strong Intellectual Property practice whilst allowing for a personalized and more cost-effective alternative to a large international firm. His knowledge is highly unique and specialized with a distinct focus on community trademarks and designs. His wide international experience allows him to provide a multicultural approach to IP law as he offers advice to international companies seeking European Trademark & Design legal services as well as expert support for technology based start-ups.
